Crossplatform companion application for incubators

Petersime is world leader in incubators, hatchery equipment and turnkey hatcheries aligned with the expertise and support to maximize return on investment. Pegus Digital created a crossplatform solution to track the status of all the connected incubators throughout their hatchery at a glance.

The client

Petersime NV started in 1949 as a manufacturing company of incubators and hatcheries licensed by the original American company of the same name founded in 1912. Since then, the company based in Olsene has grown substantially, employing over 250 people. Today, Petersime is world leader in incubators, hatchery equipment and turnkey hatcheries aligned with the expertise and support to maximize return on investment. Headquartered in Belgium with offices in Brazil, China, Russia, Malaysia and India and a worldwide sales network, Petersime commits to a dedicated customer service.

The need and solution

In 2018 Petersime asked PegusDigital to create a companion application for incubators linked to an Eagle Eye™ server. The application allows users to connect to their server to track the status of all the connected incubators throughout their hatchery. The information available to the user of the app is the same as on the interface of each individual incubator and is updated in real-time. This includes incubation related information, alarms and activity information. The app bundles this in one neat overview showing all incubators installed across all rooms, mitigating the need to run from one machine to the next to check on all of them.

The app also enables the user to filter their overview on specific parameters to tailor it to their specific needs. The user can choose to see only incubators with an active or silenced alarm, within a specific room or a specific network. The user can use these filters to display the information that is the most important to him or her at any time.

The app was built using Nativescript, a crossplatform solution allowing us to build an Android and iOS version of the application from one codebase. The app also supports both phones and tablets, each with a separate UI to make the most out of the extra screen space. This way users can view even more information in one go.

Main functionalities

The Petersime app allows you to:

• Connect to your Eagle Eye™ server to keep track of all your incubators in one hatchery.
• View the bio parameters of each incubator, ranging from humidity, temperature to CO2 levels, updated in real-time.
• Display any active or silenced alarms per incubator. This allows you to keep an eye on problems that might arise, quickly showing you which machine is in trouble.
• Filter your machine overview to only show incubators with an active, silenced or no alarm, within a specific room or on a specific network.
